Personal training in New York City

Hi, I’m Gelasio, founder of Built By Purpose, based in the Bronx. With 8 years of teaching experience, I’ve learned that the best results come from meeting people where they are and helping them build from there. At Built By Purpose, I make learning approachable, practical, and tailored to YOU. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to sharpen your skills, I’ll work with your pace, break things down into clear steps, and give you the feedback and guidance you need to keep progressing. No pressure. No complicated approach. Just real coaching, steady progress, and a purpose-driven environment designed to help you become better, stronger, and more confident. Built By Purpose — Building People. Building Progress. Building With Purpose.

I fell in love with movement long before I called it "fitness," first as a dancer, then a track and field athlete specializing in sprints and the high jump. That's still how I train today: building a skill, not just surviving a workout. I'm a NASM-certified personal trainer, Precision Nutrition-certified nutrition coach, and group fitness instructor, also certified in pre/postnatal fitness, MMA conditioning, and ViPR: a system blending functional movement with load for real, usable strength. I work with people who want to feel strong, not just look a certain way. A session with me is coaching, not counting reps, I'm watching how you move and adjusting in real time. Your first month is about building the foundation: an honest assessment, the mobility and strength work you actually need, and habits that stick. NYU grad, B.S. in Finance, minor in French.
